Reflections on Africa’s development - December 2012/January 2013

Indeed, we must recognize that the year 2012 dedicated to ’Shared Values’ by the African Union was fraught with political, economic and social development challenges in all countries of the continent at different levels of governance. The working theme of the continental organization for 2013 is ’Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance’. It aims at promoting and strengthening participatory and accountable democracy, economic and financial governance, peace and security, inclusive and sustainable development for the peoples of the African continent in in an ever more integrated Africa which is guided by the Pan-African ideal.

In this dual context, we offer you the book on ’Reflections on Africa’s development’, recently published by the ECA as a tribute to its former Executive Secretary and AGI new Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Abdoulie Janneh.

You will find :

- Africa’s Regional Integration Agenda ;

- The African Union and African Integration : Retrospect and Prospect ;

- Financing Africa’s Infrastructure ;

- Making International Trade Work for Poverty Reduction ;

- Mineral Resources Governance for Development in Africa : Extending the APRM Framework to Extractive Industries ;

- Transforming Economic Growth into sustainable Development in Africa.
