French version : Convention Africaine pour la conservation de la nature et des ressources naturelles, Organisation de l’Unité Africaine, Alger, 1968
The Organisation of African Unity (OAU) was established in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) in 1963. Its objective was to strengthen unity and solidarity in African independent states; the liberation and independence of all African territories under colonial rule; and coordinating and increasing inter-state cooperation on the continent. It stopped functioning in 2002 when it was replaced by the African Union (AU).
