The Afrobarometer is an independent non-partisan research project that measures the social, political and economic atmosphere in Africa. It is a joint project that was launched by Michigan State University (MSU), the Institute for Democracy in South Africa (IDASA) and the Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana). It network include others institutions and scholars in Sub-Saharan Africa. Its objectives are to produce scientifically reliable data on public opinion in sub-Saharan Africa; to strengthen institutional capacity for survey research in Africa; to broadly disseminate and apply survey results. Results are shared with advocates, civic educators, activists, journalists, donors and investors, as well as average citizens wanting to be well informed.
