The United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD) is an autonomous agency of the United Nations, established in 1963, which engages in multidisciplinary research on the social dimensions of contemporary development issues. Through its research, events and publications, UNRISD provides government agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, scholars and researchers with a better understanding of how development policies and processes affect different social groups; stimulates dialogue; and contributes to policy debates within and outside the United Nations system.
