The main objectives of the sub-regional forum are as follows:

a. Sharing of information and experiences across Africa’s 5 regions on state of democracy, elections and diversity management;

b. Mainstreaming of gender and youth issues in the discussion and advancing specific policy recommendations in this regard;

c. Sharing best practices in democracy, elections and management of diversity for purposes of lessons-learning;

d. Advancing concrete policy recommendations in relation to the promotion of democratic, credible and transparent elections and strengthening of existing mechanisms for constructive management of diversity.
