I- CONTEXT
In the framework of its political dialogue and advocacy and operational thinking for the implementation of the principles of Developmental Governance, the Africa Governance Institute organizes on July, 23rd, 2010 from 9.00 am to 12.30 pm in its headquarters in Dakar a session of its “AGI’s Fridays” program on the concept of “Implementation of Development Policies”.
II- JUSTIFICATION
The first “AGI’s Fridays” meeting focused on the concept of Fragile State. It was intended to deconstruct, rebuild the concept and allow an African and Southern approach of the concept in order to contextualize Developmental Governance.
To continue the reflection, AGI wants to raise the question of the implementation of Development Policies in the specific context of African countries, in a second session. Many public action decisions are taken at national, continental and international level, but they remain mostly outstanding. One must therefore wonder about their applicability and their implementation, to understand why the decision-making does not translate into concrete action. This is one of the major issues of Developmental Governance.
In this second session of “AGI’s Fridays”, the Institute will offer participants the opportunity to think with a field approach: implementation of health policy, mobilization of local tax resources to finance basic services, natural resources governance...
